When releasing tension, gas temperature goes down by 0.4°C per one bar drop in pressure. In cases of great differences in pressure this can lead to a temperature of down to 0°C which can cause the safety fittings freezing up. In order to prevent this, warm water pre-heaters for high pressure gas reducing stations are applied.
